"I put my money where my heart is and went solar. Only eight hours
after Heat Shed began construction, my solar system was generating
electricity, and I watched my electric meter run backwards!
After more than a full year of operation, I've seen a major
reduction in both my electric bill, and my carbon footprint."

Conserve Energy & Save Money
The cleanest way to meet our electricity needs is by getting the most out of the energy we already use.  By planning well and using today's techology, we can cut our electricity consumption, save homeowners and businesses money and create thousands of new jobs.  Improving energy efficiency lowers energy bills, eliminates the need for new power plants, increases our energy security and puts people to work

PECO Smart Home Rebates are available on central heating, cooling, water heating equipment, refrigerators, clothes washers and room air conditioners meeting certain standards  The list of eligible equipment is located on the PECO website The funding should last till May 2013.
https://www.peco.com/Savings/ProgramsandRebates/Residential/Pages/PECOSmartHomeRebates.asp x

PECO Smart Driver Rebates will pay any residential customer $50 to register their electric car so PECO can locate where the cars are located.

The EV Project is funded by US Department of Energy to build a charging infrastructure for electric cars. They will be announcing in August that the Philadelphia area is now eligible for this funding. It will pay 100% of the cost of the charging unit and part of the installation cost. Since this is federal money, the installation labor must be at prevailing wage rates. Addition information is at wwwtheevproject.com. All installations must be completed by year end. The charging units are Blink models and will be connected to the Blink Network so the Department of Energy can track usage. PECO is also funding a limited number of units for local government which  maybe coordinated with this project. This was still being reviewed by PECO last week.

The Phila Gas Works under their PGWorks program is offering rebates for high efficiency gas heating equipment for Phila customers. The rebates are $2,000 for a boiler and $500 for a furnace with an efficiency rating of at least 94%. Information and rebate forms are available at www.rebate-zone.com/pgworks. The rebates are for residential and business users. There is still over $700,000 of available rebates through August 2012. PGW will add additional funds in September.
Standard equipment normally has an efficiency rating around 80% and many older units are over sized so a properly sized high efficiency unit can reduce the use of natural gas.
