The controversial KXL tar sands pipeline continues to make headlines, but rapidly proliferating shale gas pipelines carry many of the same risks. Karen Feridun, founder of Berks Gas Truth and 350 Berks & Lehigh Valley Climate Action, will discuss these extreme energy pipelines, what they have in common, and what you need to know if one's coming to you.
 
Beyond Coal Campaign

Phonebanking, letter writing, canvassing, 1-on-1 meetings, events and other activities are being organized.  Thanks to Bryan Crenshaw, we have a great blog pacleanair.blogspot.com and a very informative Twitter account @pacleanair.  If anyone wants to have a 1-on-1 discussion with me on how to get involved please call me at 732-589-8024.  To be added to the google group list, send your name and email address to william.kramer@sierraclub.org.  You will be kept up to date on all campaign activities. 
 

SPG Executive Committee Meetings

Executive Committee meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month from 6:45 - 8:30  pm at the Clean Air Council offices, 135 S. 19th St. Suite 300, Philadelphia.  All members are invited to attend.   Next scheduled meeting is Wed. July 3, 2013.  All members are invited to attend.  We especially encourage those interested in volunteering to attend and meet the SPG leaders.   Confirm date and location in advance by contacting Anne Lovatt at anne.lovatt@verizon.net.    
 
 
Monthly Service Project at Ridley Creek State Park
 
lst Saturday of the Month - Ridley Creek State Park (Media PA) Volunteer Trail Work 
Time Assemble 9:00, work until no later than noon.
Place Park Office (Hunting Hill Mansion) Rear Entrance
Wear long pants, otherwise dress for the weather.
Bring Water, work gloves if you have them, insect repellent with 20-30% DEET, also bring friends & family.

SPG Hikes

Bill Brainerd, outings coordinator, organizes hikes in the SPG area. Send your e-mail address to wbrainerd3@gmail.com, and he will notify you of upcoming hikes.   Hikes are generally suspended for the winter months but get on the list now for the Spring!
