Dear Members & Friends,
Traveling to Washington, D.C., isn't the easiest thing -- but when it comes to addressing the climate crisis, it is the important thing. Here in Pennsylvania, activists like you have done a lot to move forward on climate. We've already worked to shut down dirty coal plants in PA and promote renewable energy. We need to take our voices and add them to the national chorus. On February 17, Forward on Climate will be the biggest climate rally in history. Hundreds are already signed up, and we want to make that thousands! For this one, size matters. This rally will only be a success if every person who can possibly make it comes with us. Will you RSVP today and board the Pennsylvania bus to D.C. with us? The climate crisis is creating weather patterns that aren't just extreme -- they're downright freaky. Our leaders in Washington can't sit around and twiddle their thumbs anymore, and it's up to activists like you to make sure they get the memo. The first step President Obama can take is to reject the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. So at the Forward on Climate Rally, we'll engage in several critical actions that push him to lead on climate, as well as hear from inspiring speakers like Bill McKibben, Mike Brune, and surprise celebrity guests. Together, we will make it clear to the president that climate's time is now. You can make this a Presidents Day weekend that President Obama won't forget -- sign up to join the biggest climate rally in history, stop the toxic Keystone XL pipeline, and create tangible momentum for further climate action. For Philadelphia buses, click here! We have buses leaving from the following cities: Allentown, Devon, Elkins Park, Harrisburg, King of Prussia, Lancaster, Lansdale, Northeast Philadelphia Suburbs, Quakertown, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton and State College, West Chester and York. Reserve your seat on a bus today! See you in February, Wendi Taylor Additional bus departure: 8 AM from Dittmar Park in Radnor at the corner of South Valley Forge Rd and Maplewood Rd. $35 adults $20 seniors, students, underemployed. We hope to be back before 8 PM. Mail your check to Mary Kane, 5 Rachel Dr, Chester Springs PA 19425. You can pay when you board if a seat is available. |
Message from William Kramer, National Field Staff Coordinator: Phonebanking, letter writing, canvassing, 1-on-1 meetings, events and other activities are being organized as part of the 100 Days of Climate Action Campaign. We phonebanked last weekend and all this week for the historic DC rally, and will continue this weekend and next week. You can call from home or (on selected days) from the Clean Air Council offices at 19th & Walnut Sts., Phila. There are around a dozen buses going from Pennsylvania, and there is still space on one leaving from 30th street. Go here to sign up. http://phillybustodc.eventbrite.com/ . We are also working with our climate coordinated campaign partners to plan a climate public event in March and an Earth Day event in April, and doing visits to state and federal legislators the second half of February. Thanks to Bryan Crenshaw, we have a great blog pacleanair.blogspot.com and a very informative Twitter account @pacleanair. If anyone wants to have a 1-on-1 discussion with me on how to get involved please call me at 732-589-8024. To be added to the google group list, send your name and email address to william.kramer@sierraclub.org. You will be kept up to date on all campaign activities.
